The American College of Physicians (ACP) have deemed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) as the best treatment for chronic insomnia disorder and should be the first line of treatment for the approximately 24 million adults suffering from the condition.
CBT-I is a combination of treatments that includes behavioral therapy interventions, such as sleep restriction and stimulus control; cognitive interventions, including restructuring dysfunctional beliefs and decastrophizing negative thoughts about sleep; and sleep hygiene to address factors that may augment treatment outcomes. Treatment is equivalent to medication in the short-term and in the long-term it supersedes medication use. Typical treatment last 4-8 weeks.
I do offer Telehealth services and I am a Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH). Video conferencing can be done on any device with internet including smart phones, tablets and a computer. Telehealth works well for those who live further away, have chronic or debilitating health problems or have busy lives which prevents office visits from occurring on a routine basis.paragraph here.
I offer individual, family, marital, and group therapy depending on needs of my clients. I am EMDR certified and use this therapy modality for trauma treatment (with children as well). I find it to be especially useful in treating addictions. For patients who struggle with self regulation, have a history of instability as well as continued relationship struggles, I am trained in Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) and do this on an individual basis.
I can do psychological testing to look at underlying disorders and/or for diagnostic clarification. Most insurances will not pay for psychological testing.
I take most insurances and will gladly provide you with a bill to turn in to your insurance company for reinbursement if I am not in network with your carrier. Currently I take the following insurances: Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Humana, Medicare, Mercy Care (AHCCCS), TRICARE, and VA Choice.

I use play therapy to help children show what is bothering them and triggering their behaviors. Children often do not have the words to tell adults what has happened to them and what is driving their negative behavior. Play therapy is a great tool for looking at underlying cause of dysfunction and to allow the child to begin to heal in a fun manner. Children typically love coming to see me, because we play games and near the end of the session I always include the parents or caregivers in the treatment so I can teach them the same skills.
